Hints for using
CDEveryWhere with Macromedia Products
CDEveryWhere makes it easy to publish your Director or
Authorware applications on a CD for PC and Macintosh. You will need
access to both a PC and a Mac to create the CD. You will also need a
copy of Director or Authorware for both PC and Mac.
You need to decide whether you want to create the application
with or without the runtime. Creating it with the runtime will make
one large application that the user needs to run. You will have two
of these, one for PC and one for Macintosh. This is the preferred method
for two reasons. First, the multimedia application will look different
on PC and Macintosh due to font differences, etc. You can tweak the
project to look good on each platform. Secondly, you will not have any
trouble executing the application on either platform. Creating the package
without the runtime may cause some difficulties. The advantage to creating
without runtime is you can share the large data file between Mac and
PC.
After recording your CD, test it on all your target platforms
to make sure it displays correctly. Differences in fonts and other display
characteristics may bring undesired results. CDEveryWhere will not guarentee
your multimedia application will look identical across platforms.
You may use the "AutoRun" and "AutoStart"
features in the "Platform" tab to start your multimedia application
when the user inserts the CD.
